Request for Proposals for a Feasibility Project of Four Intersection Improvement Projects
The City seeks proposals for a feasibility study of options for the following four intersection improvement projects:
- Golf Course Drive improvements, CIP No. 2024-07: Compare the feasibility of adding an additional west-bound lane to Golf Course Drive between the US 101 South On/Off ramp and Redwood Drive or adding a double-lane roundabout at Golf Course Drive and Redwood Drive. This will require Right-of-Way acquisition, a Caltrans encroachment permit, environmental clearance, design, and possibly Low Impact Development features.
- US 101 South and Golf Course Drive, CIP No. 2024-08: Compare the feasibility of adding an additional south-bound right-turn lane to the US 101 South off ramp at Golf Course Drive or adding a double-lane roundabout at Golf Course Drive and 101 South. This may require Right-of-Way acquisition and will require a Caltrans encroachment permit, environmental clearance, design, and Low Impact Development features.
- US 101 North and Commerce Boulevard, CIP 2024-09: Compare the feasibility of adding an additional north-bound lane to the US 101 North off ramp at Commerce Boulevard or adding a single lane roundabout at Commerce Boulevard and US 101 North. This may require Right-of-Way acquisition and will require a Caltrans encroachment permit, environmental clearance, design, and Low Impact Development features.
- Rohnert Park Expressway and Redwood Drive Intersection Improvements, CIP No. 2024-10: Compare the feasibility of adding additional south-bound left vehicle storage capacity to Rohnert Park Expressway and Redwood Drive or adding a double-lane roundabout at Rohnert Park Expressway and Redwood Drive. This will require Right-of-Way acquisition, design, possibly Low Impact Development features and environmental clearance.
These feasibility studies should include, at a minimum:
- Level of Service analysis
- Total Project cost breakdown
- Green House Gas Emissions, provide comparison between roundabout vs. signalized intersection
- Overall intersection safety, provide comparison between roundabout vs. signalized intersection
- Recommend action for each intersection
