Duties of City Councilmembers 
The City Council adopts goals and policies which set the direction for the City. The Council also approves and adopts the City's Financial Plans, General Plan and the Capital Improvement Plan. For the implementation of policies, the Council provides direction to the City Manager during Council meetings. In addition to appointing the City Manager and City Attorney, the Council is responsible for appointing members of City Commissions, Committees, and Boards.

City Council Compensation
The current salary for each Councilmember is four hundred eighty-four dollars and six cents per month, as authorized by the Rohnert Park Municipal Code Chapter §2.12. Councilmembers’ salary is payable at the same time and in the same manner the salaries are paid to the other officers and employees of the city. Councilmembers are also eligible to enroll in City health insurance plans, deferred compensation, CalPERS, and Retirement Health Saving Accounts.  Amongst other benefits, Councilmembers may use the Sports Center.

Statements of Economic Interests
The City Councilmembers are elected officers identified in Government Code Section 87200 and file statements of economic interests with the City Clerk's office. Copies of the statements of economic interests filed by the above elected officers may be obtained by visiting the offices of the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) or the City Clerk. The physical address of the FPPC is 1102 Q Street, Suite 3000, Sacramento, California 95811. The physical address of the City Clerk's office is 130 Avram Avenue, Rohnert Park, California 94928. The statements of economic interests for some state and local government agency elected officers may be available in electronic format on the FPPC's website

City Council Protocols
The Council Protocols are adopted to provide direction to the Council, staff, and the public in the procedures of the Council.

City Council Meetings
City Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month in the City Hall Council Chamber. Meetings officially begin at 5:00 p.m. All regular meetings are televised live and re-broadcast on Comcast Channel 26 and on Youtube.

In addition, anyone with a computer or laptop and internet access can view City Council meetings live through a link on the City’s Meeting Central page. Viewers can also access archived webcasts of previous meetings at their convenience. These archived webcasts are indexed, allowing users to quickly jump to a particular agenda item, and provide easy access to most agenda-related documents.
