Emily moved to Rohnert Park from the Central Valley in 2000 to attend SSU, and graduated with a Sociology degree. She fell in love with the area’s natural beauty and set deep roots while working, volunteering, and establishing lifelong friendships and business relationships.
In 2011, Emily and her husband Kelly purchased their first home in Rohnert Park’s ‘L’ neighborhood. He teaches special education and Emily works for organic food manufacturer Straus Family Creamery. Together they raise two young children. Emily serves on the PTA and Garden Committee to raise funds for essential programs, volunteers with Girl Scouts, and fosters service dogs in training. Her passion for the environment, food, and community service have led her on a journey of personal and professional growth helping nonprofits and small business owners through transitions and growth.
In 2022, Emily was elected to the Council to represent District 2 but serves all Rohnert Park residents. She is eager to understand different perspectives within our diverse community, identify common priorities, and work to ensure that all members feel represented. Her integrity, work ethic, resourcefulness, and creative problem solving are invaluable leadership skills to identify actions that build our city’s resilience to climate change, address housing instability, and utilize our partnerships and resources to their full potential.
