Rohnert Park, CA (July 16, 2020) Rohnert Park Breaks Ground on New Fire Station

The City of Rohnert Park broke ground yesterday on a new fire station, the first one on the growing western side of the City. Mayor Joseph T. Callinan said, “Public safety is the #1 responsibility for cities. This station demonstrates our commitment to the safety of our residents. It also shows the collaborative relationship we have with the Federated Indians of the Graton Rancheria, who are paying for most of the costs as part of their agreement with the City. I’m looking forward to the day when our fine Public Safety officers will use this station to improve our responses to medical and fire calls on the west side.”

The City’s General Plan, adopted in 2000, identified the need for a fire station west of Highway 101 to serve planned growth. The construction of the Graton Casino and commencement of SMART service further highlighted the need for a station on the west side of the City.

The Westside Station (Fire Station #3) will accommodate the City’s ladder truck and includes bedrooms for the crew of 3, kitchen and common area space, along with decontamination areas and equipment that will enhance the delivery of fire service throughout the City. The Station was designed by LCA Architects and is being constructed by Ridgeview Builders. It is scheduled for completion in the Summer of 2021.

The budgeted cost for the project is just over $7.7. Funding is coming from contributions negotiated though various Memoranda of Understanding between the City and the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria and from Development Impact Fee funding.
