Fire Services
Our Public Safety Officers who are assigned to the Fire Services Division function as a typical municipal fire agency and are responsible for protecting life and property. As needed, these Officers are available 24/7 to respond to police incidents. Our Fire Division also includes the fire prevention bureau responsible for reviewing proposed building plans as well as inspecting new and existing buildings. Disaster preparedness is coordinated through the City Emergency Operations Center.
In 2015, Rohnert Park received our Insurance Service Office (ISO) rating from an organization that provides statistical information on risk of fire in communities. Some of the areas evaluated by the ISO is number of fire personnel and fire stations, fire training, number of fire hydrants, pumping capacity of fire engines to name a few of the areas evaluated. Some insurance companies use this rating with a scale of 1 to 10 and 1 being the best to help determine insurance costs in a community. Prior to the ISO rating in 2015, Rohnert Park was rated as a 4 which is common in Sonoma County. After our most recent ISO rating, we were rated a 2 which put our Fire Division in the top 8% of the Country. We are very proud of our Fire Division and the excellent fire services we provide to the residents and businesses in Rohnert Park.
