Fire Safety Inspections

The purpose of the Rohnert Park Fire Safety Inspection Program is to eliminate hazards that contribute to the risk of fire or injury. The goals of the program include reducing the likelihood of fire emergencies, preventing property loss and personal injury, ensuring citizen safety, controlling fire suppression costs, increasing Fire Department visibility, and familiarizing firefighters with all properties in the city.

Who Needs a Fire Safety Inspection?

  • New Businesses: Business license inspection
  • Businesses storing or using hazardous materials
  • New large family care facilities
  • Commercial or residential sprinkler installation

Key Items Checked During Inspection

  • Readily visible addresses.

  • Properly installed and serviced fire extinguishers.

  • Clear, visible, and correctly marked exits.

  • Electrical hazards (e.g., unapproved extension cords and multi-plug adapters).

  • Properly serviced and tested sprinkler, standpipe, and special extinguishing systems.

  • Properly serviced and tested fire alarm systems.

  • Proper storage of flammable materials.

  • Emergency lighting.

  • City business license.

  • Code compliance specific to the occupancy inspected.
