For the fourth consecutive year, the City Council adopted a balanced budget. This is important for the City’s long-term ability to provide quality services and facilities.
The budget reflects input from the 2017 Community Survey by adding staff to better maintain our streets and parks, to require homeowners to keep their properties looking good, and to staff our new West Side Public Safety station when it opens. We are also filling police positions added in last year’s budget.
The budget funds 10 new police vehicles and a fire engine. We are funding a new General Plan, which sets the long-term vision for the City on land use and growth.
We are also using these good economic times to address long-term liabilities by catching up on deferred maintenance, setting aside funding for new technology projects, and paying down unfunded liabilities.
