Secondhand Dealer Permit
NEW or INITIAL LICENSE
Prior to the granting of a license, the local agency is required to submit the secondhand dealer or pawnbroker “application package” to DOJ’s Secondhand/Pawnbroker Licensing Unit for processing.
A New or Initial application package for a License consists of the following items:

Photo ID

City business license
-
Money order or check payable to DOJ for $300

$20,000 Surety Bond (Pawnbrokers only)

$100,000 Surety Bond or financial review (Pawnbrokers only)
The NEW or INITIAL application processing fee is $300. Live Scan fees are payable at the Live Scan site where the licensee will be fingerprinted. Fingerprints are required for each recognized owner, corporate officer or partner.
Upon approval from DOJ, in about 30 days, you will be notified of license being sent to the Director for his signature.
Once Director signs the DOJ License, applicant will be notified that the license is ready.
