The City of Rohnert Park officially opened Five Creek Park, the City’s first public park west of Highway 101.
The park is 2/3 of an acre. Mayor Joseph T. Callinan noted, “This is a small park that packs a punch. It includes the first two bocce courts in the City. It also includes skate features, a nice addition for our teens. This park continues Rohnert Park’s long-standing tradition of providing quality amenities for our residents.”
The addition in recent years of hundreds of apartments near Five Creek Park helps address the region’s need for more housing. Five Creek Park will provide an ideal location for the residents to enjoy the outdoors in their neighborhood.
The park was delivered as a result of an agreement that the City negotiated when it sold the former stadium site. Its features and configuration were developed jointly by the Planning and Parks and Recreation Commissions, whose members worked diligently and cooperatively to make sure that the delivered high value for the developing neighborhood west of 101.
