The City Manager's Office supports the information and policymaking needs of the Council, implements Council decisions and directives, and manages the day-to-day operations of City departments. The City Manager is appointed by the City Council to serve as chief executive and administrative officer. Under the City Council/City Manager form of government, the Council establishes policies for operations within the City and it is the City Manager's responsibility to ensure these policies are carried out.
The City Manager is:
trained in the business of managing government and its resources.
maintains political neutrality and puts the overall welfare of the community first.
brings a community-wide perspective to policies and programs.
is involved in thousands of individual decisions, large and small, that define our community and affect our quality of life.
