Major Accomplishments for Fiscal Year 2017/2018

  • Continue to Improve Community Oriented Events
    • We held several "Coffee with a Cop" events to meet and build relationships with community members.
    • We held our 5th annual National Night Out event in August to partner with community stakeholders to keep Rohnert Park safe.
    • Public Safety participated in the Special Olympics Torch Run and Tip-A-Cop.
    • We held our annual Explorer Pancake Breakfast at the Northern Fire Station.  This is a great community event.
    • Public Safety attended many other community meetings to hear from citizens on any safety concerns they may have.
  • Public Safety applied and received grant money from the State on the following programs.
    • Office of Traffic Safety- DUI Enforcement
    • Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) decoy operations to make sure underage youths cannot purchase alcoholic beverages.
    • Homeland Security- Received funding for communication equipment for Police & Fire.
  • Bureau of Justice Administration.
  • Developed and Implemented an Outreach Program with Sonoma State University and Spoke to over 3200 Students.
  • Implemented the Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR)
  • Sonoma County firestorm response
  • Completed radio console replacement in Dispatch
  • Partnered with a non-profit for homeless outreach
  • Hired 15 Public Safety Officers to replace vacant positions and added more staffing to Patrol

Major Goals for Fiscal Year 2018/2019

  • Goal 1: Continue recruitment to fully staff agency
  • Goal 2: Schedule neighborhood community meetings
  • Goal 3: Complete Dispatch remodel
  • Goal 4: Integrate surveillance cameras on high hazard intersections
  • Goal 5: Review Comprehensive Analysis of Public Safety Resources by ICMA
  • Goal 6: Reduce Part 1 Crimes by 3%
